J-NAT(Japanese Language NAT Test)
The Japanese Language NAT Test (J-NAT) is an examination that evaluates the Japanese language proficiency of non-native speakers. It assesses listening, reading, and grammar skills, offering levels from N5 (basic) to N1 (advanced). Recognized by academic institutions and employers, J-NAT certification demonstrates an individual’s competence in Japanese and can enhance opportunities for study and work in Japan and other Japanese-speaking environments.

Registration Guidelines
Please read the guidelines carefully before you register for the JLPT Exam .
- Registration can be made online only!
- It is mandatory to the read the Registration Help in “Sinhala / English” before applying.
- JLPT Exam Sessions- Registration is open from mid-March for July exam (1st session) and mid-August for December Exam ( 2nd session)
Test Date –
JLPT (July) : 1st Sunday of July
JLPT (December) : 1st Sunday of December - Registration is open for 2 weeks on a first-come-first-served basis. There will be a limit on the number of candidates for the test. Registration may close early if the maximum number of candidates is reached before the closing date.
Levels of Exam
Please check the test level carefully before you register, Test Level cannot be changed under any circumstances after submitting the form. All fees paid are non-refundable and non-transferable after registration. Please note that each applicant is only permitted to apply for a single level in the JLPT exam. In the event that an applicant applies for multiple levels, refunds will not be provided.

Passing Criteria
Validity : 2 Years
The two criteria for passing the exam are: One must have scored more than the passing score for the exam, and one must have scored over 25% on each section of the exam. If those requirements are met, then the examinee will be deemed to have passed the test. (Note: The passing score differs for each exam.)
Even if one has a total score which is above the passing score for the exam, but scored less than 25% on one or more of the individual sections, the examinee will receive a failing score for the overall exam. This rule is intended to ensure an unbiased evaluation of each examinee’s Japanese language abilities.
On the Examination Day
- Applicants must bring their Test Voucher downloaded via Applicant Login – All Applicants are requested to take a black & white / color printout of the Test Voucher. Test Voucher must be printed on A5 paper in Landscape Orientation. Test Vouchers will be available before 2 weeks before the Examination Date
- Applicants must bring their National Identity Card or Passport on the Examination Day.
Examinees will be denied entry into the test centre if:
*They do not bring their National Identity Card or Passport
*Examinees are late for the test.
In such cases, examinees will not be entitled any refund of the Examination fees paid. - Only HB Pencils, Erasers, Sharpeners and NIC/Passport are allowed in the Exam Hall.
Pens, Mobile phones, Bags, backpack, handbags, clear file, clear bag, L folders, file covers, valuable items, wrist watches, digital watches and any other electronic devices are strictly NOT allowed inside the Exam Hall.
